The purpose of the project is to measure optical and thermal properties of a number of IR window materials in the temperature range from room temperature to 1000C. The optical properties of interest are spectral transmissivity, reflectivity and emissivity, spectral refractive index and absorption coefficient. The thermal properties to be measured are, thermal conductivity, expansion coefficient, and specific heat. Density at ambient temperature will also be measured. The materials to be investigated will include but not be restricted to sapphire, magnesium fluoride, B and L. Type IR20 and G.E. Type IR2. Summary: The effort during the period has been devoted to adaptation of available equipment to the specific needs of the project. (Author)
