An attempt was made to understand the hydrologic characteristics of streamflow under dry weather conditions and to develop from this knowledge some means for prediction of seasonal-low streamflow quantities. 'Drought frequency plots' for a number of watersheds of varying sizes and regions of the country were prepared. A 'Probability Graph' was developed for the prediction of watershed low-flow yield based on typical streamflow records. This graph predicts 'low-flow water yield', using the parameters of 'median value of 9 or more consecutive years of low-flow data' and 'selected recurrence interval'. It is a simplified approach to low-flow predictions which does not take into account directly the many variables of watershed cover, soil types, steepness of terrain, climatic conditions, habitation, etc. Even so, a surprising accuracy of prediction is indicated.
