The publication describes a proposed food processing plant for the processing of tomatoes, papayas, mangos, guavas, and pear puree. The necessary equipment and operations are briefly outlined, together with a plant layout. Two chapters outline the desired information to be compiled in the country of the proposed plant and at the source of equipment and supplies. A complete feasibility study is given in detail. Names and addresses of manufacturers of food processing equipment and supplies are listed. The manufacturing of various food products is illustrated by outlining the equipment, operations, and layout of five different plants that cover the range of commonly processed foods. In summary, the proposed food processing plant is estimated to cost $687,199.24 to produce products that would sell for $808,469.69. The estimated capital required for the first year totals $591,622.90. (Author)
