As a result of tests conducted with 'Belarus' tractors with completely overhauled engines, involving magnetic filtering of the crankcase oil and periodic addition of an improver-additive to the crankcase, the following points were brought to light: (1) use of magnetic filtering of the crankcase oil has a favorable effect on the retention by the lubricant of its performance properties. In addition to more effective purging of the more harmful mechanical impurities (iron wear residue and quartz particles) from the crankcase oil itself, magnetic filtering has a beneficial effect on organic particles in the suspended state, ensuring that they will be kept in that state because of polar orientation; (2) periodic addition to the crankcase of the improver for restoration of the neutralizing ingredient of the circulating lubricant is generally beneficial to engine operation.
