The thermoplastic elastomers combine elastic properties of chemically cured rubbers with the easiness of processing and recycling of thermoplastic polymers. Four groups of elastomers including block copolymers of styrene with butadiene, isoprene or isobutene (including graft copolymers) propylene-based elastomeric polyolefins, thermoplastic elastomers made of physical blends of a crystallizing plastomer with a not crosslinked elastomer and thermoplastic elastoionomers containing side ionogenic acid groups (mostly carboxylic or sulfonic ones) were reviewed. Methods for synthesis of the elastomers were described. Range of their application as well as the present state and perspectives of their industrial manufacturing were presented.
