The thesis deals with analysis of dynamic phenomena in rolling mills during the operation process. The first part presents a critical estimation of the present state-of-art and theoretical methods of investigating vibration phenomena in rolling mill stands. On this basis a mathematical model of the rolling mill stand and of the rolling process, formulating jointly the description of the motion of the mechanical system as well the phenomena associated with plastic deformation of metal, has been obtained. The paper presents also some examples of utilizing the mathematical model of the rolling mill stand in practice. It has been established that the analytical and measured results approach each other closely enough to enable the model presented to be acknowledged as reproducing the behaviour of the actual rolling mill stand with sufficient accuracy. The thesis is closed with summing up inferences and indications concerning the directions of further work in this respect.
