On the basis of literature and own investigations the analysis of the friction phenomenona in contact zone in burnished element were accomplished. The actual state of knowledge of burnishing technology was made and the record of factor influencing the friction during burnishing was prepared. The analysis allowed to set forth the hypotesis that the other, not regarded till now dependances exist. Thus, the thesis of the work and the need of its experimental verification was elaborated. The experimental stage of the work comprised the elimination tests, the essential investigations and complementary tests. The essential factors: The parameter of initial surface roughness, and the burnishing force. Because the literature on the influence of the initial stereometry on wear is rather shallow the complementary tests were decided to make. In the essential test as the initial factors the force of burnishing and the mode of burnishing were taken. The first of the above factors come from elimination tests and the next one is connected with the problem which as the result of analysis has been recognized as a still unsolved. This problem concerns the influence of the slip which appears in contact zone on the properties of surface layer. The final stage of the work is the synthesis of phenomenona occurring in contact zone.
