Malicious programs (malwares) have caused serious damages on the Internet. In particular, passively-attacking malwares that make users to receive exploit codes are increasing in recent years. The paper describes our analysis on malware activities that infect to victims through Web browser vulnerabilities, and proposes a detection method based on our analysis. The analysis shows differences between communication protocols and traffic trends of passively-attacking malwares and actively-attacking malwares. In the paper, a detection method based on passively-attacking malwares communication scenario is proposed to detect the malwares. Effectiveness of the method is presented by traffic data of passively-attacking malwares and real network.
