TIB and Optica sign Read & Publish agreement for 2023 and 2024

Consortium agreement includes reading rights for users and publication services for authors of participating institutions

TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and Optica Publishing Group (formerly OSA) have signed a consortial Read & Publish agreement for 2023 and 2024. In addition to reading rights for leading optics and photonics journals for users, the agreement will also enable authors affiliated to member institutions to publish open access in the provider's journal portfolio free of charge.

Under the consortium agreement, eight institutions will benefit from expanded access rights and unlimited publishing opportunities in both the company’s hybrid and Gold Open Access journals. This will create better opportunities for researchers to read and share new discoveries and findings.

“The German optics and photonics community is known for its significant and influential contributions to the field,” says Elizabeth Nolan, Optica Publishing Group’s Deputy Executive Director and Chief Publishing Officer. “We are delighted to be working with TIB to support German researchers and to ensure that they can both access a wider range of our content and make their high-quality articles openly and immediately available to the world.”

Dr. Irina Sens, Deputy Director of TIB, adds: “We welcome the step that Optica has taken in offering a Read &Publish deal for a consortium of German universities and research institutions. It allows members to centrally cover access costs as well as publication costs for their researchers, making the publication of articles under a CC BY license easy and hassle-free for authors and reducing the administrative burden for librarians.”
